Darla Magee, E-RYT 500

Darla Magee has been inspired by yoga her entire life. She was first introduced to yoga as a young child.  Since then, serendipity has consistently connected her to Bhakti yogis, who have always enchanted her with their sweet loving energy and their path of spiritual devotion.

Hatha yoga (the physical practice of yoga poses—one of the main aspects of the larger system of yoga) called Darla as an adult. She felt drawn to teach and inspire others the way that she was inspired by yoga even as a child. Her commitment and passion for yoga has led her to become a sought-out, expertly certified, immensely popular teacher. Her special focus on teaching heated yoga has given her a reputation for being a challenging trainer.

Darla’s first certification as a yoga teacher came from Bikram Choudhury in 2000. After learning and becoming certified in Bikram’s basic series, she went on to study with Jimmy Barkan and learn his advanced hot vinyasa style in 2006.  Most recently, Darla completed Ana Forrest’s residential “Foundations” Forrest Yoga Teacher Training course—a profoundly challenging program that has enabled Darla to bring innovative energy back home to Houston.

Year after year, Darla’s various studioes have been praised by Citysearch.com and the Houston Press as “Houston’s Best Yoga.” Darla’s devoted, generous style of teaching motivates and instills confidence in even the most tentative beginners. Advanced students love her for her extensive knowledge of yoga and her gift of teaching teachers

Darla and her husband, Michael Price, live with their amazing standard poodle Frank and their four thousand books in the Houston Heights.
